Canon has announced the new professional digital SLR camera, the Canon EOS-1D X, which claims to be the integration between the EOS 1D and 1Ds product lines. Powered by the new Dual DIGIC5+ image processor, the EOS-1D X features continuous shooting speed of 12 frames-per-second, 61-point AF system, carbon fibre shutter blades and dust-proof and drip-proof magnesium alloy body.
Edwin Teoh, assistant director, Consumer Imaging Products Marketing division, Canon Singapore, was at the event to unveil the new Canon EOS-1D X professional digital SLR camera.
The new Canon EOS-1D X claims to be the ultimate professional digital SLR (DSLR) camera designed to support any photographic application and shooting demands. It is the integration of the EOS 1D and 1Ds product lines and sports a full-frame 35mm 18.1-megapixel CMOS sensor. The EOS-1D X boasts a shooting speed of up to 12 frames per second (fps) with its new carbon fibre shutter and revised mirror mechanism, and 14 fps with mirror up (and lock focus). It is powered by the brand new Dual DIGIC 5+ image processor, offers ISO settings of up to ISO 204800 (H2); 61 point high-density reticular AF (41 cross-typepoints), full high definition 1080p video recording with choice of ALL-Iand IPB compression methods and video file sizes that exceed 4GB (FATspecifications) are automatically split. The digital SLR camera also features an electronic curtain shutter for quiet operation during live view shooting.
Accompanying the EOS-1D X are two new accessories - the WFT-E6 wireless file transmitter and GP-E1 GPS receiver. Pricing and availability of the EOS-1D X aren't available at press time, but Canon Singapore said that the digital SLR will be available by the first half of 2012.
