The Street Fighter 2 series of games released on the Super Nintendo will be coming to the Wii U virtual console, despite the recent announcement that there were no plans to bring the fighting series to Nintendo’s struggling system.
Ultra Street Fighter 4, the latest update to the franchise, will be hitting the Ps3, Xbox 360 and the PC in early 2014 in DLC and retail form. However, Wii U owners hoping to start throwing some Hadoukens were left reeling when Street Fighter executive producer Yoshinori Ono tweeted that there were no plans to bring the beloved fighting franchise to Nintendo’s latest home console. Now, just a few hours after that announcement, Capcom revealed that the Hadoukens will fly after all, though not in the form everyone expected.
The three Street Fighter 2 games from the SNES era are coming to the Wii U virtual console. Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, and Super Street Fighter 2 are all up for grabs starting this week. Each title will set you back $8. However, if you buy any one of the games, the other two can be yours for half price. Most of us will probably just opt to get our favorite game in the series, however, the completionists among you can get all three titles for $16 to see how Street Fighter 2 evolved over the years.
