Card Makers To Design Own 7800GT Cards

The
Inquirer
has more juicy specs on the 7800GT card for us; 400MHz core, 20
pipes, 1GHz GDDR3 memory, 256-bit memory interface, 32GB/s memory bandwidth, 8B
gigapixels/s fill rate, 700M vertices/s, US$ 399 at launch on Aug 11. VR-Zone has
also learned that the card manufacturers will be designing their own PCB for
this 7800GT instead of the standard reference 7800GTX card that everyone got
from NVIDIA. This will be interesting because card manufacturers could be
fitting in 1.6ns memory to clock at 1.2GHz instead of 1Ghz, higher core clock
above 400MHz due to better cooling design, and possibly dual 7800GT card design
from ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte and Leadtek at a later stage. It will be interesting to
see if the 4 hidden pipelines can be unlocked through hardware/software mod.
