The current Godson-2E processors are already in mass production by ST Microelectronics and it is a 64-bit MIPS III RISC processor unlike Intel and AMD which is x86 based. With 47M transistors and clocked at 1GHz, it only consumes around 5W of power. Right now, we can even see them in small boxes running on Linux made by a company called Lemote and it gonna be cheap. There will be a successor to the current Godson-2E processor and it is called Godson-2F. As we have learned, the samples will be out Q3 and the performance is said to be at least 20-30% over the current Godson-2E processor. Interestingly, it is claimed to be able to match up nicely against Intel Pentium 4 1.5GHz processor.
