A purported ad campaign that China Mobile is expected to run has leaked out. It touts the carrier’s offering of “The Strongest iPhone.”
There have been no shortage of rumors about the new iPhones coming to China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile network with more than 700 million subscribers. The ad campaign poster mentions both the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C, hinting at an imminent launch of the smartphones. Apple has already received the required certification to put its iPhones on China Mobile’s TD-LTE network. It appears that the new iPhones will be the flagship devices on China Mobile’s new 4G network.
As per the poster, the network will offer speeds of up to 100Mb/s. China Mobile has its network ready, all that’s left is the permission from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which will permit the carrier to use the spectrum for commercial purposes. It has already been said that licenses will be issued by the end of this year, though rumor has it that they might be given out by mid-October.
China Unicom and China Telecom, the two other major carriers in the country, already offer the iPhone. It can’t be said for sure right now exactly when the new iPhones will be released on China Mobile, but a release won’t take place until and unless the permission is granted to the carrier.
