Cisco has recently announced their new lineup of Flip camcorders which do not just record only in high definition, but also record at higher frame rate per second. On top of that, there is a new FlipPort connector on the bottom of the UltraHD, which is to be used with additional accessories to the camcorder.
The Flip video camcorders that can record in standard definition are totally phased out, since most camcorders on the market are capable of recording at least HD resolution. Cisco has introduced the new line of Flip UltraHD and MinoHD camcorders that capture only in high definition, and at a higher frame rate per second.
Aesthetics-wise, they don’t look very different from the last generation, although they do have some enhanced features such as recording 720p video at a frame rate of 60fps, and digital image stabilization to minimize shakiness.
The new Flip UltraHD model comes with a proprietary FlipPort connector on the bottom for user to add accessories to the camcorder. According to Cisco, the accessories in the making include microphone and portable charger, as well as wide-angle lens attachment and waterproof casing.
The new 2-hour UltraHD version (8GB) is selling at US$200, while the 1-hour version (4GB) is priced at US$150.
The latest 2-hour MinoHD is priced at USS$230, while the 1-hour version (4GB) has a price tag of US$180.
