Cisco refreshes Linksys E-Series wireless routers, launches new X-Series

Consumers looking to upgrade their home wireless network may want to take a look at the refreshed Linksys E-series wireless routers as well as the new range of Linksys X-series modem routers.  According to Cisco, the new products are characterized by high performance and sets new benchmarks for speed, wireless range and ease-of-use.  Not to mention the sleek industrial designs that combines aesthetics and advanced functionality.

In a prepared statement, Ulrike Tegtmeier, Vice President, International, Cisco Home Networking Business Unit, said, "The home network is now a complex mix of various devices connecting to one platform, and consumers are demanding reliability and speed to meet their digital lifestyle needs. Beyond the smart phone and personal computer, devices that are connected to the home network include TVs, Blu-Ray players, game consoles and set-top boxes. The increasingly sophisticated requirements of consumers today underscore the importance of wireless connectivity for a next-generation home entertainment experience."

Linksys E-series wireless routers

The improved Linksys E-series wireless routers provide speeds of up to 450Mbps on the highest-end model.  Selected models also incorporate SpeedBoost external power amplifiers to maintain signal strength over a greater distance.  In addition, virtual USB technology makes it possible to connect USB printers, storage and other USB-based devices to the network.

The refreshed E-series family is shown in the table below.

Linksys X-series modem routers

The Linksys X-series family of model routers are designed to work with both DSL and cable broadband connections.  The flexibility means that users are free to switch between cable and DSL broadband when moving to a new home or to enjoy better deals from another service provider. The Linksys X2000 Wireless-N ADSL2+ Modem Router is currently available at S$139 and supports up to 300Mbps wireless with Ethernet ports.  The Linksys X3000 Advanced Wireless-N ADSL2+ Modem Router, which costs S$179 and comes with Gigabit Ethernet ports, will be available end-November.

All products will be sold at Challenger Superstore, Harvey Norman, Best Denki, Courts, South Asia Computer, Inforcom Technologies, Fuwell, A Genuine Technology, Cybermind Computer House, Cyberactive Technology, Bizgram, Videopro, Gain City and Hai Xin Rui.
