We've already shown you a wide range of X79 motherboards for Intel's upcoming LGA-2011 Sandy Bridge-E CPUs which are still set for a Q4 launch this year and we've even seen a dual-socket prototype from Asus' ROG team, but it seems like we might even get some notebooks based on Intel's new high-end desktop platform. We spotted a Clevo motherboard that's simply called the P270WM at the show floor and this could potentially end up in some seriously high-end notebooks.

We spotted a Clevo motherboard that's simply called the P270WM at the show floor and this could potentially end up in some seriously high-end notebooks.

The motherboard itself is nearly the size of a standard desktop ATX motherboard, although the shape is rather quite different. The bottom side houses the CPU socket, two MXM slots for SLI or CrossFire graphics, a SO-DIMM slot and what appeared to be some kind of SATA connector.

Flip the board over and we have another three SO-DIMM slots as well as one full-length and one half-length mini PCI Express slots. The edges of the board is home to an Express Card 54 slot, a memory card reader, two USB 2.0 ports, an eSATA port, a FireWire 800 port, an Ethernet port, an aerial connector of some kind and finally a DisplayPort, HDMI and DVI port. We'd presume that some of the ports aren't present on the main PCB but will be connected via ribbon wires and as such we're not sure on what the additional ports will be, but a good bet would be a pair of audio jacks and some extra USB 2.0 ports.

We're fairly certain that Clevo has produced this motherboard for one of its typically crazy high-end notebooks and judging by the size of the PCB this motherboard is going to end up in 18-inch+ notebooks. As for battery life, do you even need to ask?
