CommunicAsia (CMM) is the region’s premier Infocomm Technology event that is held yearly in Singapore, and it is no exception this year. CommunicAsia 08 opens on the 17th of June and runs on till the 20th of June, where Infocomm companies from all around the world congrgate and display their latest products and technology right at Singapore Expo, between Hall 2B and 6. Before the event started, Minister of Information, Communication and the Arts, Dr Lee Boon Yang addressed the crowd at Infocomm Media Business Exchange (IMBX) at right after CMM’s opening ceremony on Tuesday. Dr Lee announced spectacular results in Singapore’s infocomm industry, seeing revenues jump nearly 14% to SGD$ 51.7billion last year. 

A series of initiatives were also announced, with the Government announcing a SGD$ 20 million investment in security applications to ensure the confidentiality of personal transactions done online with the National Authentication Framework. Security tokens similar to bank authentication ones will be issued or generated to provide a second layer of security for all Singapore Residents.
