NVIDIA held a Tour for the Press on the first day of Computex. Basically much
talk by the speaker was about the emerging importance of GPU acceleration in
applications that extend to many areas improving life’s conveniences, instead
of the weather-beaten Vista motivation.

Nothing much new was learnt, except that a refresh of the
680i SLI chipset is going to come before the year ends
, but still on a DDR2
platform. However, a refresh can only mean new features, and better overclocking
capabilities. No doubt that the Chipset maker must be seeing green over the
600+MHz FSB attained so readily by Intel’s newest P35 chipset. So it will only
makes sense to assume the close-up on this area by the refresh will be made Probably earliest in Quarter 1 of 2008 will we see
NVIDIA chipsets supporting DDR3
, mainly due to expected market trend of
conversion to DDR3 among consumers.
