Corsair has been a major player in the power supply market since 2006. The release of their two first PSU products, the HX520 and HX620, proved to be a great success at the time, quickly making Corsair one of the favorite brands amongst enthusiasts. Today the company is offering no less than 20 units split into 6 series, for every budget and taste; however, the unit which we will be reviewing today is no other than the HX850, the successor of the units which built the company's reputation as a power supply manufacturer.

Today, Corsair's HX series is not anymore the best series which the company offers; the HX series lost its spot to the AX series, plus the cheaper TX series now includes modular units as well. On the other hand however, the only practical difference between the AX series and the HX series is that the AX units are fully modular, with the exception of the AX1200i which features the Corsair Link DSP interface, a technology unique to the particular unit for the time being.
