Creative Zen Touch 20GB MP3 Player Review
Nicknamed the Ipod Killer by some, Creative’s new Zen Touch aims to offer a comeptitive alternative to consumers who wish to own a digital jukebox. But with Apple releasing their 4G Ipods, will this new MP3 player make the cut ? Check it out!
The Creative Zen Touch (20GB) is a power-packed hard-drive based mp3/wma player that is sure to give consumers the happy problem of having more great mp3 player options to choose from! Priced at S$ 499, the Zen Touch boasts a battery life of 24 hours, and lets music lovers carry their music everywhere without having to worry about when the battery is going to run out. It also features a touch-pad for navigation ease, and an on-the-fly playlist generator (more on this in later sections). Get the optional wired remote control, and users even have a FM radio plus voice/FM recording!
Exclusively previewed by Microsoft at the 2004 WinHEC event, the Zen Touch was touted as the first player to support the next generation of Windows Media DRM (Digital Rights Management) technology. In other words, Zen Touch users would be able to play downloaded music which utilise DRM as a subscription model, far expanding the range of music playable on the unit!
With such power-packed details and an impressive SNR ratio of 97dB, the Zen Touch may just fulfill Creative’s hopes of beating Apple in the lucrative mp3 player market.
