Popular Chinese phone Xiaomi M1 receives a working build of CyanogenMod 10.1, brings Android 4.2.2 and stock Android UI to the party.

Xiaomi M1 MIUI V5

Xiaomi, the popular Chinese manufacturer, and the name behind the famous MIUI Android 3rd party UI, releases updates to its phones regularly. Many of the features found in MIUI V5, the latest release, have been adopted from the new Android 4.2 Jelly Bean build (MIUI V5 runs on Android 4.1). But here’s a chance for owners of older Xiaomi build phones to test the latest version of Android, in a slightly more unadulterated form.

If you are the lucky owner of Xiaomi M1, updated M1S, or the budget M1 Youth Edition, you can download a working build of the popular 3rd party Android ROM, CyanogenMod 10.1, and experience the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on your Xiaomi phone. Be warned, you will lose all your data and the MIUI user interface (in case you’re in love with it). The ROM does come with its own bugs, such as a broken Wi-Fi tethering feature.
