Today, Dell held a regional media event in Singapore, showcasing their latest products which include the Adamo XPS, Studio XPS 8100, Inspiron One 19 and Inspiron Zino HD. There is also a new Alienware gaming laptop, which would be revealed tomorrow.
Update (02 Feb 2010): Dell launches Alienware M11x gaming laptop
Ian Chapman-Banks, General Manager Asia Pacific for Dell, Consumer, gave an opening speech and showcased the company’s latest products.
“What we are going to see is a very broad range of devices that cater to consumers of different needs, around the region such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Japan. All consumers around the world – different people with different culture – have the same desire, which is mobility.”
Of the products showcased at the event, the Adamo XPS caught the eye of most media folks.
Like its older sibling, this Dell Adamo XPS sports a stylish design and features a 13.4-inch HD wide display. It is powered by Core 2 Duo ULV processor and comes with 128GB SSD storage.
When closed, the laptop is slightly half the height of a twenty-cent coin (according to the specifications, the height ranges from 9.7 to 10.3mm).
Unlike other convention laptops, the Dell does not have a latch to open up the display. In its place is a touch sensitive strip (with instructional diagram) whereby you just need to slide your finger over and then you can open up the display. Well, it won’t work if there is no power connection or battery.
The Dell Adamo XPS has a starting price of S$1,799.
