Dell Inspiron 640m with Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile

It all began at the local Computer Fair. My friend informed
me of a great deal by Dell, offering Core 2 Duo Notebooks at irresistible prices.
So I went online with the intention just to check things out. Afrter all, the
Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile processors (Merom) used on Notebooks were only
just about to debut in the market. The Dell Inspiron 640m caught my eye with it’s really low price
of USD$ 870/ SGD$ 1299. It is based off a Core Duo T2050 1.6GHz
at base assembly, but at that point of time, Dell just started putting in Core
2 Duo upgrades and I found that a Core 2 Duo Inspiron 640m could be had for just USD$ 1,000/ SGD$ 1,500.

2 Duo upgrades so I decided to click on the "Customise it"
button to see if the upgrade was available for this model.

And so it was, and I picked the T5600 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo upgrade.
The whole order ended up at USD$ 1,000/ SGD$ 1,500. Quite an
unbelievable deal for a Core 2 Duo Notebook.

I had to wait for more than a week since the Core 2 Duo Mobile
processors have not made it out in good quantity. It finally came:
