Dell has launched three new Alienware laptops to fulfil the needs of mobile gamers, with a wide variety of choices available for an ideal gaming rig.

The Alienware M14x features a 14-inch high-definition display, with an option to increase the resolution from 1366X768 to 1600X900. There are a range of processor options, including the 2.5GHz Intel Core i5 and a range of i7 processors up to 2.7GHz. Users can choose between a 1GB or 2GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce GT 650M. There is up to 16GB of RAM available and an up to 750GB HDD or 512GB SSD can be employed.

The Alienware M17x features a 17.3-inch wide high-definition display, with resolution choices from 1600×900 to 1920×1080 and a choice of FHD, LED, or LED with 3D. There are three Intel Core i7 processors to choose from, ranging from 2.3 GHz to 2.7GHz, and higher when Turbo Boost is employed. For graphics, users can choose between three 2GB cards, the Nvidia GeForce GT 660M, GeForce GT 675M, or the AMD Radeon HD 7970M. Up to 32GB of DDR3 RAM is available, while users can choose between a 500GB or 1TB HDD, or 512GB SSD.

The Alienware M18x comes with an 18.4-inch wide LED FHD display with a resolution of 1920X1080. There are five Intel Core i7 options, ranging from 2.3 GHz to 2.9 GHz, with a stock overclocked option that should provide up to 3.8GHz speeds. For graphics users can choose from a 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 660M or GeForce GT675M, or for the more ambitious users can employ two 675Ms with SLI or, in the near future, two AMD Radeon HD 7970Ms with CrossFireX. There is room for up to 32GB of DDR3 RAM, while strangle only a 750GB HDD option was listed, but we expect an SSD option will also be made available.

All models come with Windows 7 and a choice of a DVD or Blu-ray player, in addition to a slew of standard connectivity features, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0.

“Our customers want the most immersive gaming experience possible, and we’ve taken the all-powerful M14x, M17x, and M18x laptops and made them even better, delivering the latest technologies for almost every need,” said Frank Azor, GM of Alienware. “We’ve always offered the latest technology for the best gaming experience possible, and our enhanced lineup will let you pwn any competitor and provide the sensory experience that we know you crave.”

These laptops are not cheap, however. The M14x starts at $1,099, the M17x retails for $1,499, and the M18x sells for $1,999. That is just the “standard configuration” too, which means any extras or improvements will bump up the price further.
