Dell has announced that it will be launching a 5-inch tablet-phone this summer. Called Dell Streak (formerly Mini 5), the portable device is based on Google’s Android OS version 1.6, though it will have the option to the updated 2.2 (Froyo) by the end of this year.
Seems like Dell has teased its consumers with too much information about their new Streak tablet device that a mistake on their web site led many to believe it is going to be out this week. Unfortunately, the launch date of the device has to be postponed till later dates, according to various web sources.
A Dell spokesperson clarified that the 5-inch tablet will retail this summer though. But its definitely not going to be the month of July.
The Dell Streak will be running the older Android 1.6 operating system, however, the manufacturer promises their customers an update to the new 2.2 version (Froyo) by end 2010. No news as to whether Dell will bring the Streak here.
