A reputable source tied closely with Dell has provided a bunch of details ahead of any official announcements on several upcoming laptops entering Alienware's lineup, rumoured to be launched sometime during Q2 2012.

The new notebooks appear to be refreshments to Alienware's existing M14x, M17x and M18x models; these said to be dubbed the M14x R2 (14-inch), M17x R4 (17.3-inch) and M18x R2 (18.4-inch).

Details out on Alienware's 2012 notebook range

There's little detail shared on the M18x R2 at this time; only that it will be available in both red and black (as will the M14x R2). The M17x R4 is said to give GPU options of AMD's Radeon 7970M or NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 660M or 675M. The 14-inch M14x R2's GPU options remain unclear at this time, but it will apparently offer 1 or 2GB discrete graphics, with the option of saving money and going for integrated graphics.

It was also mentioned that all three laptops are expected to adopt Intel's upcoming 22nm (Ivy Bridge) processors.
