Developer winocm has successfully jailbroken iOS 6.1.4, and this bit of news is sweet music to the ears of those that may have
accidentally actually updated their iPhones to anything above version 6.1.2.
The jailbreak purportedly works on the iPhone 5 as well as the 4S, but its compatibility with other devices are still being investigated. Also, both the GSM (AT&T) and CDMA (Verizon) iPhones are amongst the jailbroken candidates.
Apple will release its ‘flatter’ and more metro-centric iOS 7 soon, and jailbreaking this version will likely become another strenuous journey for developers that are dedicated enough to put time and effort into finding an exploit.
Both the iPhone 5S and 5C will be unveiled on September 10, and if all goes according to plan the two handsets will likely come with iOS 7 pre-installed.
