Developers of ‘Amnesia’ reveal their new project: ‘SOMA’
The newly revealed horror game is slated for release on PC and Playstation 4 in 2015.
Frictional Games, the developers behind the Amnesia series of games, have revealed their next plan to scare the pants off of gamers everywhere. They are working on a new horror game dubbed SOMA, which will be available for the PC and the Playstation 4 sometime in 2015.
According to the barebones official website, the game will stray from the contemporary settings of Frictional’s previous efforts and will instead have sci-fi elements to it. There is not much to go on as of now, not even what the acronym stands for, but the info page gives a few hints about what fresh horrors await gamers in 2015.
“The radio has gone silent on PATHOS-2. As isolation bears down on the staff of the remote research facility, strange things are happening. Machines are taking on human traits and alien constructions have started to interfere with routine. The world around them is turning into a nightmare. The only way out is to do something unimaginable.”
Take a look at the gameplay trailer, which raises even more questions and takes the creepiness factor even higher.
From the looks of things, the game will carry on Frictional’s tradition of making the player feel helpless, judging by the complete lack of combat once again. More details on the project will be revealed as it edges closer to launch, but for now, gamers have more than a year to prepare themselves for what should be another screamfest from Frictional.
