Dual SIM Nokia Asha 500 in red breaks cover, formal intro due soon

Despite increasing rumors of Microsoft pressuring Nokia to cancel production on a number of products, including the Sirius tab and a big chunk of the Asha family, there’s really no substantial evidence that’ll happen anytime soon.

As far as we know, Nokia’s first ever Windows RT slate is still coming, probably on October 22, whereas the crazy cheap, crazy successful Asha line is to get new reinforcements in the form of a handheld dubbed Asha 500.

Judging by the name and a legit-looking press photo unearthed by notorious Twitter user @evleaks (who else?), there’s very little to choose between this fellow and the three month-old Asha 501.

Yet the 500 will probably sport a slightly tweaked design, with no physical buttons (hooray) and what appears to be a see-through, maybe even glowing silhouette (wut?). The only other things we can deduce based on the leaked pic is the soon to be launched handheld will come with dual-SIM support and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Other features should include a 3-inch (or so) touchscreen with 320 x 240 pixels resolution, 1,200 mAh battery, 64 MB RAM, microSD support, Bluetooth 3.0 and 3.15 MP rear-facing camera. Unless, of course, Nokia doesn’t decide to up the ante a tad compared with the Asha 501, in which case the price tag will probably be boosted as well from the ultra affordable $90.

Oh, and by the by, expect the sexy bright red paint job to be just the tip of the iceberg for the device in terms of color combos, as there should also be green, yellow, cyan, white and black options. Now if only Nokia could find a way to shoot some of the Asha magic in Lumia’s direction…
