Square Enix let’s you ride the roads of nostalgia with a remake of one of the most memorable mini-games in Final Fantasy VII.
At long last, Square Enix grants its fans the much awaited remake of Final Fantasy VII. Well, sort of. Actually just one of the mini-games in the game itself. But what the heck, this Android/iOS remake looks pretty awesome, and it appears that it would be much, much more action-packed compared to the mini-game that it simply used to be.
For those who haven’t played Final Fantasy VII, the game will be directly based on the G-Bike mini-game, which can be played at a specific point in the game’s story, or at an arcade machine in a certain in-game amusement center. As seen in the trailer video, there will be more added gimmicks than just slashing down pursuing Shinra soldiers. Sure, the traditional chase sequences are still there, but there are now obstacles on the highway, and even a few boss fight-like encounters. Also, the game would of course be touch-optimized.
Square Enix plans to officially release the game around fall later this year. There are no announcements about exact pricing, but the general plan is to make it free-to-play, with a microtransaction system for optional game items. Additionally, there’s also the possibility for other characters to appear in the game, though there are also no clear announcements yet on that part.
