At this rate we won't have many AM3+ motherboards left to cover come Computex, as evidently close to every single board has already leaked ahead of the show. Today it's ECS' A990FXM-A that's turned up on a Thai forum and we're looking at a pretty high-end board, especially for ECS.

At this rate we won't have many AM3+ motherboards left to cover come Computex, as evidently close to every single board has already leaked ahead of the show. Today it's ECS' A990FXM-A that's turned up on a Thai forum and we're looking at a pretty high-end board, especially for ECS.

ECS had updated its colour scheme slightly and we're now looking at a more gunmetal grey colour scheme compared to its older boards that were a bit darker. The PCB still remains black though. ECS has also changed the design of its heatsinks for this board to something quite different, as the southbridge heatsink will change colour depending on the temperature. ECS has borrowed a feature from Asus here as well, the extra tall ATX 12V connector, something we've only seen on a couple of boards before.

It's slightly disappointing to see only six expansion slots on this board, as there are three x16 PCI Express slots, two x1 PCI Exprss slots and a single PCI slot. Anyone using more than one graphics card with this motherboard will as such have very limited expansion options. ECS has kitted out the board with six native SATA 6Gbps ports and strangely enough, an IDE connector. Other connectors appear to consist of a USB 3.0 header for two ports and a mere two headers for four USB 2.0 ports. The board also has a POST80 debug LED and a power and reset button.

Around the back things get pretty crowded with a PS/2 port, eight USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, two eSATA ports, a pair of Gigabit Ethernet ports, a Bluetooth dongle, 7.1-channel audio with optical S/PDIF out and a clear CMOS button. Finally the A990FXM-A will come with a front USB 3.0 accessory and it does of course feature UEFI. Overall a pretty decent board with one or two minor issues, although this seem to be a reoccurring theme with all the 990FX boards we've seen so far.

In related news, ECS has put its Computex preview site live and although details of its AMD A75 chipset based Fusion boards have already leaked, there's at least one new addition to be found, namely the Z68H2-M which is ECS' first Z68 board and it's a mATX board at that. Otherwise we didn't spot much in terms of interest, but it gives a little bit of a sneak peek at what ECS will get up to at Computex.
