Following the MeMo Pad HD 7, MeMo Pad FHD 10 and FonePad Note, all unveiled last week, Asus appears to be readying yet another Android-based tablet, known right now just by a fairly enigmatic codename – K008.
This K008 has been spotted getting Bluetooth certification, as well as FCC’s stamp of approval, which means its launch is likely just around the corner. But what exactly are we dealing with here?
Well, many hints seem to point at the K008 being a 7-incher, but beyond that the tab’s spec sheet is anybody’s guess. The weird thing is the slate’s FCC listing mentioned it came with a 10-inch display in tow, so not even the screen size is set in stone just yet.
To thicken the plot even further, you may remember an Asus K005 was making the rumor rounds not long ago, being most likely the tab that’s been made official as the MeMo Pad FHD 10. But if that’s the case, wouldn’t the K008 be a follow-up of some sort/an upgraded device?
So many questions, so little hard evidence to base answers on. Still, one thing seems crystal clear and that is the upcoming Asus tablet will run the unreleased Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (aka software version JWR11).
One could go so far as to guess the K008 is the oft-rumored second-generation of the wildly popular Nexus 7, but again, there’s not enough proof to sustain such a supposition. Besides, the first-gen N7 carried the model number ME370T and that’s not very similar to the new codename, is it?
If anyone else cares to speculate or voice guesses of any sort relating to this Asus K008, the comments section below is at your disposal. Who knows, maybe together we can crack this puzzle.
