EPoX 4PDA5+ 865PE Review
4PDA5+ is fitted with 6 high quality Sanyo Ultra low ESR
capacitors of 3300μ, 6.3v each to provide additional stability of CPU power
especially for the Prescott processors. Also the 4-phase power design ensures
optimized power density and thermal performance for
increasing high CPU temperature. The CPU voltage regulating is controlled by the
4PDA5+ is fitted with a passive golden colored aluminum heatsink
on the Northbridge. Intel 865PE chipset is a discrete chipset and consists of
two controller hubs; 82865PE (MCH) and 82801DB (ICH4). The 82865PE MCH supports
a 800 MHz system bus, 4GB of DDR400 SDRAM providing memory bandwidth up to
3.2GB/s and linked to the Southbridge on Intel® Hub Architecture with 266MB/s of

standard, AC’97 Rev 2.3, providing a Jack-Sensing function, a PCBEEP Generator,
and Interrupt Capability. Realtek ALC850 features a 16-bit eight-channel DAC,
four pairs of stereo outputs, with 5-bit volume control and multiple stereo and
mono inputs, along with flexible mixing, and gain and mute functions.
Marvell Yukon 88E8001 Gigabit Ethernet combines the Marvell
Alaska PHY transceiver and a Gigabit Ethernet Media Access Controller (MAC),
with a 32-bit PCI interface and a 64 KB packet buffer. It enables host system
offloads for TCP/IP and UDP checksum generation and includes Wake-on-LAN (WOL)
support for remote manageability. It is the First Gigabit client connectivity
solution to offer Virtual Cable Tester™ (VCT) technology for reduced network
installation and support costs.
Silicon Image SiI 3114 is a single-chip PCI to 4-port Serial ATA
(SATA) host controller. Software RAID 0 (striping), RAID 1 (mirroring) and RAID
1+0 (mirrored stripe) functions are supported through Silicon Image’s SATARaid™
RAID management software utility.
