EVGA is well known for their extreme motherboards and strong graphics card lineup. We paid EVGA a visit at Grand Hyatt Taipei Hotel to find out what they have in store for enthusiasts currently, as well as the near future.
While k|ngp|n and Shamino were busy knocking down overclocking world records at NANGANG Exhibition Hall, we went knocking on EVGA’s door at Grand Hyatt Taipei Hotel to find out about what they have in store for the enthusiast crowd.
Greeting us was a really huge prototype casing.
Besides the usual front panel I/O connectors, there is an embedded EVGA Control Panel. It provides a two-digit LED display for temperature readout, three small knobs for controlling fan speeds, and even measuring points to obtain readouts of Vcore, Vdimm, VTT, etc.
And the reason why the casing is so huge, is simply because it is designed for the EVGA Classified SR-2 motherboard.
Over here, we have two processors cooled by two really new Cooler Master V6 GT heatsinks, and 4-way NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 running in SLI. The whole system is powered by a single power supply tucked away neatly at the top of the case. This power supply is none other than the 1200W Super Record 2 (SR-2) Power Supply.

Although the SR-2 PSU is essentially an Antec TruePower Quattro 1200W OC, it has been thoroughly tested with the Classified SR-2 motherboard under heavily overclocked conditions to ensure flawless compatibility with almost every possible configuration.
In addition to the extensive testing done, the internals of the SR-2 power supply have also been modified to EVGA’s requirements. There are also additional 6-pin PCI Express power connectors meant for the CPU VRM input on the EVGA Classified SR-2 motherboard too.
The EVGA SR-2 power supply gives enthusiasts more control by offering adjustable fan speed, and adjustable +12V rail voltage. This gives users the ability to tune the +12V rail for less sag under extreme loading with current day CPUs and GPUs.

With dual Socket 1366 processor support and 4-way SLI support, nothing comes close to this. Based on the Intel 5520 Chipset, the HPTX form factor board allows two Intel Xeon 5500 or 5600 processors and 12 DIMM slots for up to 48GB of memory running in triple-channel configuration.
Besides sheer brute force in the processor and graphics subsystems, enthusiasts would be glad to know there’s USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gbps onboard. EVGA’s EVBot handheld overclocking device is also supported.

A while ago, ASUS introduced the ROG Connect and GIGABYTE touched on Cloud OC. These are not standalone solutions, requiring at least a separate device (be it a PC, an iPod Touch, or a smartphone) to operate.
