The overclock was achieved using a modified PWM section done by TiN and under LN2 (yeah the default PWN will not be able to hold so stay tuned for their FTW and Classified versions), with the core hitting -150C. The system used was a Core i7 3930K, overclocked to 5.5 GHz with memory running at 2400 MHz and using the latest Precision X overclocking utility. The system was benchmaked using 3DMark 11, scoring a remarkable 14912 in Performance preset.

Though remarkable, kIngpIn's 3D Mark 11 score was narrowly beaten by Elmor's HD 7970 @ 1800 MHz, scoring P15035. Of course, this is done with full tesallation turned on, if not, it will be nearly 1K higher.

Here's a short note from kIngpIn on his forums:

Setup is capable of 16k single card regardless when pushed all the way and today we got 1900 stable, we think 2ghz is possible with more tuning. Just need more time. Tried 2 cards on Ln2 to obtain this result so far…its all modding that makes this frequency possible
