F.E.A.R. is once again upon us. But just how powerful a system will you need to extract the most scares from F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin?
Many gamers will remember F.E.A.R., the horror-themed first-person shooter from 2005 by American developer Monolith. After a long legal tussle between original publishers Vivendi and the new owners of Monolith, Warner Brothers, over the rights to the franchise, a sequel has finally emerged – F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin.
Long story short, the creepy psychic girl whom the whole plot revolves around, Alma, survived the massive blast at the end of the original F.E.A.R. that was aimed at destroying her. She’s angry, she’s now a grownup woman, and this time, she’s after you, Sergeant Becket. Though not necessarily in the way that you’d expect, and that’s just the beginning of your troubles. The corporation that started this whole mess, Armacham, is looking to cover up its tracks, and you’re in their way.
We’re quite sure you want to dive right in and start experiencing some Alma-induced hallucinations or spraying a hail of bullets into Replicant baddies, but the best horror experience requires total immersion. That in turn calls for top-notch graphics, which common sense will tell you only a powerful system can provide.
But if you don’t have the latest and greatest rig, nor the money for one – what then should you expect? We answer these questions in our F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin performance review.
