Facebook for Windows Phone got a huge update yesterday, bringing the experience of using the app on WP8 much closer to the one offered on Android and iOS. Say hello to Facebook 5.0.

Facebook 5.0 Windows Phone 8 Microsoft (1)

Microsoft announced yesterday a major update to the Facebook app on WP8. The update brings in a ton of new features for which the users have been eagerly requesting and waiting. The new Facebook 5.0 app is a part of the in-development Facebook beta app program for Windows Phone. You can download the beta app and use it side-by-side the newly updated app, with the difference being that you get to test new features, and that you send feedback to the development team on the app.

Highlights of the Facebook 5.0 app for WP8:

  • Improved Navigation
  • Timeline View
  • Support for High-Resolution Photos
  • Post-Sharing
  • Overhauled UI

Windows Phone fans might not really fall in love with the new UI of Facebook 5.0, which is more like the Android and iOS apps than the standard Windows Phone app design (but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, just that it you will always notice the differences while switching between Facebook and other WP8 apps).

Download the new Facebook app by hitting the source link posted below. Additionally, you could download the Facebook beta app and join the beta program as well. The beta app is not accessible via your phone, so you will have to use the direct store link posted below.
