Fairphone is a smartphone with a difference. It is the world's first smartphone made completely without harming the planet (or its inhabitants).
Fairphone is not your average smartphone. Say hello to the world's first and only smartphone that claims to be made in a completely harmless process (harmless to Mother Earth) and is now seeking money via pre-orders to commence production of its ambitious project. The company needs about 5,000 pre-orders to start the manufacturing process (and hit break-even point). In terms of specifications, the Fairphone won't disappoint.

What makes this Fairphone "fair"?
Here's what sets the Fairphone, or rather its production process apart. Good working conditions, environment-safe recycling practices, avoids the use of minerals that might fund conflicts (the metals used in the phone won't reach the pockets of illegal armies). Also, the money earned from this phone will go into recycling initiatives. Sweet ain't it?
Fairphone costs €325 (or about $420) and is on pre-order in Europe. The asking price is quite steep for a handset of said specifications, but all things considered, this is a darn good initiative that we don't see coming everyday.
So what's your take? Would you pick up one of these fair-phones?
