‘It’s finally real’ may be Samsung’s coolest commercial, for it’s worst product
Reviews say Samsung’s Smartwatch is catastrophically underwhelming, but the company sells it on TV in all kinds of retro cool.
For those wondering where Samsung got the idea for a Smartwatch — a device that has thus far been panned by critics — it’s most recent set of TV commercials gives a pretty definite answer: science fiction.
As designers of the first Nokia cell phone were reportedly inspired by Captain Kirk’s communicator, Samsung contends a similar narrative with its Smartwatch: the futuristic gadget from science fiction lore ranging from The Jetsons, to Knight Rider and Star Trek is finally real.
Unfortunately, the usefulness of a the Galaxy Gear has proven to be at best marginal compared to the fancy gizmos seen in the aforementioned sci-fi shows.
