Firefox OS developers’ conference to be held in India soon, to showcase $50 phones
Firefox will be holding a developers’ conference in India in the coming weeks in Goa. The conference will showcase many of the upcoming Firefox OS based devices, some as cheap as $0.
PhoneArena reports that Firefox will hold a Firefox OS developers’ conference in India. The event will take place in the happening state of Goa, home to many such conferences and product launch events. In the conference, Firefox will try to get code junkies writing apps for their new HTML 5 based platform. The main motive behind the conference is to fill the apps repository in the most-important part of the new platform, the Firefox OS Marketplace.
Apart from (meaningless to some) coding, the event will put on show a number of Firefox OS based devices set to launch in the country. Some devices may be as cheap as $50 (less than INR 3000). Such phones will undoubtedly put a huge pressure on non-touch feature phones, as users will simply love going for a touch enabled phone than not. How is Firefox going to achieve such low selling prices? Well, the phones running on the HTML 5 platform don’t require oozing amounts of power, so the hardware inside will be very basic, entry-level and hence cheap. The aforementioned $50 phone is being developed by Indian company Lava Mobiles.
Currently, PA doesn’t have the event dates and timings, or how the procedure to apply for a pass for the Firefox OS event. As the event draws nearer, more and more details will be revealed. Don’t worry, we’re sure to pass them along to you, readers, at the earliest.
