Fujitsu today announced volume shipments of its next generation MHU2100AT
2.5" 9.5mm mobile hard disk drive to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
Fujitsu’s new mobile hard disk drive offers up to 100GB of capacity and nearly a
30% increase in areal density allowing manufacturers to design next generation
portable computing and consumer applications.

The MHU2100AT mobile hard disk drive is ideally suited for integration into
portable PCs due to outstanding shock tolerance and low power consumption
boasting a capacity point that makes the product an invaluable tool for users
with advanced storage needs, such as creative professionals that work with audio
and video files. The increased capacity point also makes the MHU2100AT hard disk
drive perfect for non-traditional vertical markets such as automotive, consumer
electronics and industrial applications requiring a wide range of operating
temperatures and shock specifications.

"Volume delivery of 100GB in a slimline 2.5-inch form factor is a significant
milestone for the industry," said John Monroe, a research vice president at
Gartner. "Enormous networks of connected devices will soon create an
increasingly portable and playable ‘thicket of digital life.’ High-capacity,
small form-factor hard disk drives will provide quick mobile access to
ubiquitous content that is richly layered and immensely complex."

"This announcement marks the industry’s first volume shipments of 100GB mobile
disk drives and is an exciting step in the progression of the mobile computing
market as it becomes more fully integrated in consumer and automotive
applications," said Joel Hagberg, vice president of marketing, Fujitsu Computer
Products of America, Inc. "Fujitsu is committed to maintaining its position as a
market leader and innovator by being early to market with products of superior
quality and we see this announcement as yet another proof point in achieving
that goal."

As a result of Fujitsu’s technology leadership and innovation, the MHU2100AT
hard disk drive will provide industry-leading specifications, critical for
today’s mobile computing applications:

Read / Write Power Consumption of 2.0W typ / 2.1W typ.
IDLE Power Consumption of 0.65W typ.
Idle Acoustic Noise as low as 2.4Bels
Non-Operating Shock of 8.820m/s2 (900G) (1ms)
Operating Shock of 2,205 m/s2 225G (2ms)
Track to Track Seek Times of 1.5 ms typ.

This announcement further validates Fujitsu’s leadership in the mobile hard disk
drive market following the recent announcement of the MHT-BH hard disk drive,
the world’s first 2.5" 9.5mm mobile hard disk drive with Serial-ATA Extensions
that supports Native Command Queuing.
