G.Skill RipjawsX 1600MHz CL7 4GB DDR3 Kit Review
Having just a fast processor isn't really enough these days; a high-speed memory kit can provide quite a bit of performance boost to your bandwidth-hungry Intel 'Sandy Bridge' platform gaming rig. VR-Zone.com finds out how much an improvement there can be with the F3-12800CL7D-4GBXM kit from G.Skill. Overclocking included.
G.Skill, a leading manufacturer of high performance memory, was one of the first to introduce new memory kits designed for the 'Sandy Bridge' platform. Known as the RipjawsX, there are over twenty different configurations available for enthusiasts and gamers to choose from for their new rig.
This weekend, VR-Zone.com tries out the F3-12800CL7D-4GBXM. Well, that is the SKU code, and we shall call it the RipjawsX 1600MHz CL7 4GB DDR3 kit for simplicity's sake. This particular kit is a matched pair of two 2GB double-sided memory modules, programmed and tested for 1.5V operation at 1600MHz CL7-8-7-24-2N. Offering impressive specifications and excellent pricing as its predecessors, it would be interesting to see if this new kit can perform in the overclocking department.
The G.Skill kit comes in an easy-to-open blister pack and the memory modules can be comfortably popped away from the packaging.
Nothing much to see on the other side; we have a short introduction about the RipjawsX series and a label affixed at the bottom right corner for you to make sure the right memory kit is in there.
Here is a quick run through of the G.Skill kit's specifications before we proceed further.
