Hitachi owned G-Technology has unveiled the G-SPEED Q and G-SPEED FC XL 8Gb, high-speed storage solutions aimed at enterprise and mainstream users.
The G-SPEED Q features four drive bays, an internal RAID controller and eSATA, FireWire 400/ 800, and USB 2.0 interfaces for external connectivity. With support for up to 8Tb of storage space, the G-SPEED Q supports data transfer up to 200Mb/s through its eSATA port. Pre-installed with four Hitachi 7200 RPM SATA II hard drives (configured in RAID 0 or 5), it is expected to hit store shelves in June at a MSRP of USD 899 (4Tb) and USD 1,499 (8Tb).
The G-SPEED FC XL 8Gb, designed for use as a SAN or as a high-speed storage add-on to an existing XSan2/metaSAN network, boasts an 8Gb/s Fibre Channel connection, an Intel RAID processor and supports up to 32Tb of space. Available in 2U and 3U rack-mountable cases, the G-SPEED FC XL 8Gb is bundled with a web-based GUI monitoring software. It is expected to start shipping in May at a cost of USD 8,999 (for 12Tb space).
