Garena has announced the largest official Malaysian e-Sports tournament this year, the Heroes of Newerth National Championship 2012, which features over RM500,000 in cash prizes. Exclusively for Malaysians, the tournament will kick off in April 2012. Registration for the tournament will be opened to players of every league, and the victors of each qualifier tournament are blocked from participating in subsequent events. Even the vanquished would stand a chance to make a comeback in later qualifiers.

Qualifiers will be played over the course of eight months whereby the events will be hosted in six different states in Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Perak, Johor and Sarawak. An online tournament will also be held in conjunction with the events to accommodate the various participating teams who will be competing for a RM160,000 cash pool; a total of 16 different qualifiers with a RM10,000 winner-takes-all final, and the weakest links being eliminated at each passing stage.

In collaboration with the highly anticipated and successful Garena Malaysia Carnival, the grand finals will be held in December, where the finalists will meet for the total grand prize money of RM340,000. The crowned champion will take home RM300,000 prize money, while the second and third placing will be presented with RM30,000 and RM10,000 respectively.
