GeIL expands into SSD market with Zenith S2 and S3 series

Dubbed the Zenith series, these 2.5-inch solid state drives come in two flavours; the more value positioned Zenith S2 with a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface and performance focused Zenith S3 which is SATA 6.0Gbps and packed with the latest Sandforce SF-2000 series goodness.

The Zenith S2 will launch with 60 and 120GB capacity choices, delivering read and write speeds of up to 280MB/s and 270MB/s respectively. The Zenith S3 lineup is broader with capacities of 60GB, 120GB, 240GB and 480GB being offered and with performance likely well over the 500MB/s mark.

Competition is certainly fierce in this segment these days and showing no sign of slowing down with the likes of Intel having just outed its new 520 series performance line. But if GeIL can introduce the Zenith range at the right price points and get their name out there for producing quality SSDs then they could be off to a flying start in being a tough competitor to beat.
