loewe German TV maker Loewe denies Apple acquisition rumours

German TV manufacturer Loewe has denied reports that Apple has entered discussions for a supposed $113 million acquisition bid.

German TV manufacturer Loewe has denied reports that Apple has entered discussions for a supposed $113 million acquisition bid.

AppleInsider claimed exclusive news of the alleged takeover deal, suggesting that Loewe's financial advisor strongly encouraged acceptance of the terms, a decision on which was reportedly due on 18 May.

Since then, Rainer Hecker, chairman of Loewe's board of directors, told shareholders that there had been “no contact” between the two companies.

A company spokesperson further emphasised the lack of veracity to the claims, stating that there is “absolutely nothing to it” when it comes to the rumoured takeover.

The speculation of Apple acquisitions within the TV market make sense with the widespread belief that the company is planning to launch its own TV set, dubbed iTV, but as far as Loewe is concerned, there is clearly no merit to the rumours.
