thumb Gigabyte X58A UD3R

Intel’s X58 chipset has appeared in various guises on a fair few mainboards since its launch. Why would Gigabyte want to bring another X58 mainboard to the already-saturated market? For SuperSpeed USB and SATA 6Gb/s, of course!

1 Gigabyte X58A UD3R

The Gigabyte X58A-UD3R sample we took hold of is just what you’d get off the store shelves of your local computer hardware retailer, and purchasing it from a shop/online store is probably the simplest way to get your hands on one. The bunch of us here didn’t have things that easy; we had to snatch it from the hands of our local distribution rep who wanted it for his own mean-machine. Depicting the violent struggle that ensued would probably bring more page hits from your inner sadist, Mean Reader, but that is not our intention right here at VR-Zone.

The box you see above is the result of our (victorious) efforts against the local distribution rep. In case you were wondering why there was little damage done to the box, dear reader, that was because we took some precautions.

Like strapping leftover anti-static foam to our palms before we did a tug-of-war with the poor package.
In the next page, we bring you specifications for the X58A-UD3R mainboard. Boring, but necessary, especially if you’re considering putting one in your own machine.
