It’s only been a month since Gionee has started selling the top-notch Elife E6 in India and the budget-conscious GPad G3 has seen daylight 24 hours ago, but apparently the Chinese OEM is already hard at work on sequels for both devices.

Gionee GPad G4

And boy, will those two up the ante. The GPad G4, teased on Facebook earlier today, will reportedly carry the X817 model number and cost quite the pretty penny, at $353 (Rs. 22,500). But it should be worth it and then some, with a 5.7-inch 720p IPS panel in tow, aluminum unibody build, 7.9 mm waistline and, most of all, spacious 3,200 mAh battery.

Did I say most of all? Forget about that, since the 13 MP/5 MP dual cameras sound at least equally as hot. Such a shame Gionee is again wagering on one of MediaTek’s quad-core CPUs, which is simply not enough to help the GPad G4 take on giants from competing manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, Sony or LG.

On the bright side, there are (slightly less credible) rumors going around of a true Galaxy Note 3 “killer” being prepped by Gionee. Dubbed Elife E7, the powerhouse will have as much in common with the E6 as the GPad G4 has with the G3 – nothing.

And mind you, the E6 is no powerhouse either. Only the E7 is to play in a league of its own, with, get this, a 6.1-inch IGZO 2K (2,560 x 1,600 pix res) display and quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU clocked at 2.4 GHz.

That’s right, 2.4 GHz, not 2.3, as the ones found inside the LG G2, Nexus 5, Galaxy Note 3 or Sony Xperia Z1. Why not 2.5? Your guess is as good as mine, but can we really be picky at this stage? Especially when tipsters claim Gionee’s Elife E7 will also pack 3 GB RAM and 4G LTE support.

Expect the G4 out and about by this time next week and the Elife E7 formally introduced sometime during or after the holiday season. Possibly on December 26. ‘Tis the season to be jolly indeed.
