Google launches Public Alerts on Google Maps

Google has launched the Google Public Alerts on Google Maps which is designed to update users with the most relevant emergency alerts around their vicinity. Simply go to http://www.google.org/publicalerts and you can find the information you need as to what's happening, where and when it will happen etc. If you go to the website now, you can see that there are various alerts including flood warnings in Western Kentucky as well as Arkansas. Needless to say, these alerts are currently more relevant for those living in the US. According to Google, it is working with the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the National Weather Service, and the US Geological Survey (USGS) to provide the relevant weather, public safety, and earthquake alerts which are accessible when a user search on Google Maps.
