The Kindle and Nook may have a surprise visitor next month.  Google’s 7’’ Nexus is rumored to unveil at Google’s I/O event from June 27-29 in San Francisco, and is expected to hit retail stores in July.

Google’s Nexus 7’’ will likely have a Tegra 3 quad core with Android 4.0 ICS as OS of choice.  There aren’t any words on an official release date for Jelly Bean so it’s realistic to assume that the Nexus 7’’ won’t come with Jelly Bean out of the box.  It does not have a rear camera, but a front facing camera is expected.

Sources in Taiwan states that:

“The 7-inch Nexus tablet PC already started shipping in June and is estimated to be available in the retail channel in July with the device's total shipments expected to reach at least three million units in the second half of the year.”

The price of the Nexus 7’’ is set to be around $199, and will come with Wi-Fi for connectivity.  According to Asustek’s Chairman, Jonney Shih, due to the Nexus 7’s low price it only supports a Wi-Fi connection.  Asustek and Google worked together on the Nexus 7, but Asus will also release its own 7’’ in August—priced at around $159-179.
