41 GSkill F2 8000PHU2 1GBHZ DDR2 Review

With upcoming applications and even Operating Systems requiring
more Memory, 2 x 512MB is just barely sufficient and most users are much more pre-occupied with the 1GB x 2 kits. For Overclocking Enthusiasts such as myself, Overclocking Capabilities takes precedence over Size however. I have been spending some time with the GSkill F2-8000PHU2-1GBHZ (512MB x 2) DDR2 Kit, my new Toy RAM.

It is time to make a confession. I haven’t shared about my
latest pair of sprint shoes for 3D Mark Record Race, the GSkill F2-8000PHU2-1GBHZ
(512MB x 2) DDR2
Kit.

While we have been all so pre-occupied with the 1GB x 2 kits,
I was sort of pointed towards the 2 x 512MB kits due to circumstances. This
was due to the raw BIOS swap for
the DFI LAN Party NF590 SLI Intel Edition motherboard I was relying on to chase
for the last 3D Mark points.

I found that with the BIOS swap, the motherboard was much more
stable with 2 x 512MB than 2 x 1GB. So I hunted down the GSkill F2-8000PHU2-1GBHZ
Kit to setup my Benchmarking Fort. It worked well, but I didn’t really test
it’s limits as I was focused on pushing the setup in GPU limited benchmarks.

To do a simple description, this pair of Memory is actually
single-sided. It used to be the case with DDR Memory that the single-sided modules
tend to overclock better.
