GTA V is larger than GTA IV, San Andreas & Red Dead Redemption combined

In a recent post, the official PlayStation Blog covers Rockstar’s highly anticipated new chapter in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, discussing many of the unique features and elements found in GTA V.

The article also mentioned something quite interesting on the game’s impressive scope: apparently Los Santos, the city in which the game takes place, is quite huge–in fact it’s larger than GTA IV, San Andreas and the frontier region of Red Dead Redemption combined.

“The biggest, most dynamic and most diverse open world ever created, Grand Theft Auto V blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game’s three lead characters, playing all sides of the game’s interwoven story.”

The post also delves into the game’s impressive dynamism, touching upon the sprawling city that lives and breathes, with plenty of wildlife and citizens who roam the streets and live their everyday lives; driving cars, camping in the hillside, and of course committing random crimes and wreaking havoc across Los Santos.

Additionally it mentions the fact that players will start off as established criminals, instead of having to work their way up as in the previous Grand Theft Auto titles. No longer will we have to scrape to kingpins and syndicates and partake in gruntwork; you’ll be calling all the shots and taking part in important missions that have an effect on the world around you.

Missions aren’t everything, though; sometimes you just want to take a breather and enjoy some R&R. Rockstar has you covered with a whole smattering of side missions, and even miscellaneous activities like practicing your tennis skills, testing your flexibility skills with yoga lessons. If you’re more the underwater type, you can also go jet skiing or scuba diving; and if you’re more attuned to the skies, you can go base jumping.

The PlayStation Blog article also mentioned a special edition GTA V PS3 bundle that features a 500GB PS3 console and a copy of GTA V.

Rockstar has made it clear that GTA V is their most ambitious title to date, and features a dynamic and expansive world that’s complete with tons of new vehicles, weapons, NPC’s and a new story arc. The title is definitely one of the most acclaimed and anticipated releases of the year, and millions of gamers worldwide are eager to wreak havoc on the streets of Los Santos.

Grand Theft Auto V is slated for release on Sept. 17, 2013 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation3. For more information please visit the game’s official website.
