The Halo 4 Infinity Challenge has been officially launched, allowing gamers a chance to rack up points for completed games on War Games or Spartan Ops and compete for awesome prizes.
Three days ago on Dec. 17, 2012 Virgin Mobile teamed up with Xbox LIVE to kick off the Halo 4 Infinity Challenge, offering gamers the chance to compete with one another to win fantastic Halo-themed prizes.
Players can choose between both of Halo 4's Infinity multiplayer game types–Spartan Ops and War Games–to amass points which accrue and determine global leaderboard rankings which can be seen anytime on Halo Waypoint.
Along with the new challenges the first-ever Halo Waypoint challenge has been issued: "Spartan Takedown" will be live from Dec. 17 to Dec. 23 and requires players to kill 250 players in War Games multiplayer.
"If that wasn’t enough, we’re also running Weekly Challenges where 20 players will win a Halo® 4 prize pack every week.
Every Monday, during this challenge, check the “Waypoint Challenge” for that week and aim to complete it as fast as possible. Winners are announced ever week."
As players earn more points and progress farther up the leaderboard rankings they will earn Tier rankings for both Spartan Ops and War Games, allowing eligibility to win the Grand Prize for each of the categories:
War Games Grand Prize (Tier 1): UNSC 2013 Ford SVT Raptor
Spartan Ops Grand Prize (Tier 1): 2-minute appearance in a Halo game
As of now, only the first episode is available for play on Spartan Ops, and it hasn't been confirmed if 343i is going to alter the levels week-by-week or not, but a slew of new weekly and monthly challenges have also been added in for extra XP opportunities.
With War Games, all of the playlists are included within the competition and players can choose whichever gametype or playlist they want: there is no specially selected or required gametype for the Infinity Challenge.
This is the perfect time to jump into Halo 4's frenetic multiplayer and take advantage of your holiday vacation with some good old-fashioned FPS fragfests, and get rewarded with the chance to win awesome prizes in the process.
Also be sure to pick up some Mt. Dew for some Halo 4 Double XP and earn bonus experience while you rack up more points for the Infinity Challenge!
If you haven't already, be sure to register for the Halo 4 Infinity Challenge now, and remember, the competition only lasts until Jan. 20, 2013…but on Jan. 10 all of the leaderboards will be taken down so that the participants can be grouped in their final Tier rankings and groupings.A
After you've had your fill of simulated Spartan-on-Spartan battles or gunning down Covies and Prometheans be sure to check your progress on the official global leaderboards which can be accessed any time on Halo Waypoint!
