Mattel has unveiled their new range of Hot Wheels Video Racers – small toy cars that are able to capture video.
Unveiled at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the toy car has indeed come a long way, from its humble beginnings to now. It is capable of capturing video with a built-in video camera, as well as an “on-board” LCD screen.
Recording sound and video at 30-60fps (frames per second), the onboard memory allows you to record about 12 minutes of racing footage, which you can then upload onto your computer. Mattel envisages that the new Hot Wheels Video Racers will encourage more kids to play outside and give them the feeling of actually “driving” their cars.
Priced at US$60, it will be launched early February.
