With the impending lanch of Intel's next generation Haswell platform, PC makers are busy prepping their products with which they hope to woo us consumers. Well, this HP laptop certainly has with its ultra high resolution display.

HP has unveiled their next generation Ultrabook powered by an Intel 4th generation Core microprocessor (code name Haswell). This 14 incher will pack the usual requirements of an ultrabook, slim and light, premium design and a high resolution display. HP took the part which asks for a high resolution display a bit too seriously.

The HP Envy TouchSmart 14 will pack an impressively high resolution display packing 3200 x 1800 pixels. That's four times the resolution of 2012 Ultrabooks in the same price range (1600 x 900 back then, which we considered high resolution for a 14 incher). No doubt this pixel density war was triggered by the retina MacBooks by Apple but there really is no competiton here, HP's TouchSmart 14 packs a higher resolution display and might end up with a lower price tag at the same time.

No, it's not a Mac

HP is expected so start shipping the TouchSmart 14 on June 26th (post Intel Haswell launch) with the base model priced at $699. Price tag of the 3200 x 1800 resolution model is unknown, but we expect it to easily hit $999.
