HP holds pan-regional media event in Singapore – “Nothing but HP for me”

New HP logo

Today, Hewlett-Packard Asia Pacific held a pan-regional “Nothing but HP for me” media event in Singapore and introduces the new company logo, as well as new products such as the HP Mini 311, the ultra-slim Pavilion dm1 and dm3 laptops, and ENVY line of high-performance consumer notebook PCs.

SINGAPORE, Asia Pacific, September 15, 2009 – Delivering the next evolution in mini-computing experiences with stunning new designs and features, HP PSG today unveiled the limited edition HP Mini by Studio Tord Boontje and HP Mini 311 at its “Nothing but HP for me” event in Singapore.

“Design is not just about what the computer looks like or even what it does for us. It’s also about the experience of using the PC,” said Chua Hwee Koon, vice president, Mobile Business Unit, Personal Systems Group, HP Asia Pacific and Japan. “We look at every opportunity to design the ‘wow’ factor that surprises and delights people, and these two new HP Mini notebooks are great examples of this.”

Following a successful collaboration with fashionista, Vivienne Tam, this new partnership with world-renowned Dutch industrial designer Tord Boontje is the next step in HP’s strategy to align with leading designers who have a unique point of view on design and technology.

The HP Mini by Studio Tord Boontje breaks new ground with the industry’s first three-dimensional (3D) PC surface technology – HP Imprint 3D. This technology brings a unique depth and effect to Boontje’s pattern of flora and endangered animals that unravels onto the palm rest and touchpad of the notebook.

With a starting weight of 1.06-kilos and measuring just over one-inch thick, the HP Mini by Studio Tord Boontje features a 10.1-inch mercury-free LED display and 92% full-size keyboard that make it the perfect travel companion.  Built-in tools including the Windows® Live Writer for blogging and the Seesmic social networking desktop client enables quick access to popular social networking sites for staying in sync with friends and family.

Unique to this limited edition notebook, the HP Mini by Studio Tord Boontje comes with 15 wallpapers designed by Boontje as well as a customized Stardock MyColors desktop theme and custom screen saver. The HP Mini by Studio Tord Boontje also makes it easier for consumers to make smarter choices about the environment. The packaging, Quick Setup Poster, and User Guide are all printed with soy-based inks and made of 100% from recycled material. A reusable microfiber protective sleeve ships with the HP Mini and coordinated accessories also are available to purchase separately including a PVC-free wireless mouse and a handbag made from natural materials.

HP Mini 311
Equipped with the largest screen on a Mini notebook, the HP Mini 311 delivers a bigger and richer Internet experience for consumers who are “always on and connected”.

With an 11.6-inch diagonal High-Definition LED BrightView Widescreen Display, the HP Mini 110 features NVIDIA graphics with DX10 support and Altec Lansing speakers that offer high-definition video (capable of 1080p) and music playback.

Available in a choice of Black Swirl or White Swirl protective HP Imprint finishes, the HP Mini 311 also features pre-loaded HP QuickSync technology that provides effortless and automatic synchronization of music, pictures, videos and other documents between an HP Mini and a primary notebook or desktop PC.

HP Mini notebooks are geared toward information “snacking” and content enjoyment, versus the rich content-creation capabilities found in fully-functional notebook PCs.

The HP Mini 311 connects easily to HDTV through a HDMI port, and users can also keep friends close with email, chat, Web conferencing and VOIP – from anywhere with WLAN, webcam, and optional WWAN.

The HP Mini by Studio Tord Boontje also features HP QuickWeb  “instant on” solution technology that enables rapid access to key applications – including Web browsing, Instant Messaging, Skype™, Music players and video viewers – without the need to boot into the operating system.

“Earlier this year we launched products at two spectrums of our HP Mini notebook portfolio – the colorful HP Mini 110 for consumers, and the sleek and professional HP Mini 5101 for prosumers,” said Hwee Koon. “With these two new HP Mini notebooks, we’re holding true to our promise to deliver new levels of individuality and connectivity to suit any lifestyle.”
