When HP acquired Palm last year, it was a matter of time we would see webOS devices coming to market. And even though the company has launched the TouchPad tablet and smartphones in US, Canada and some countries in Europe, there had not been any news whether the webOS devices will come to Singapore. Well, the wait is over. This evening, HP announces the launch the webOS TouchPad in Singapore.

Update: The HP TouchPad will be available from retailers, resellers and direct from HP (www.hp.com.sg/touchpaddeals) at S$599 for the 16GB and S$699 for the 32GB models.

For the month of August, in celebration of Singapore's National Day, both the 16GB and 32GB HP TouchPad will be selling at S$699 and S$799 respectively and come with free HP TouchPad Case and HP TouchPad Wireless Keyboard.

The HP TouchPad comes in 16GB and 32GB flavours, and going into the device information page shows that the tablet is running webOS 3.0.2 and user is required to register a HP webOS account for the TouchPad. The TouchPad sports a 9.7-inch flush capacitive multi-touch display, supports Adobe Flash, has virtual keyboard and access to thousands of webOS applications.

In landscape orientation, the volume controls are at the top, while on the right is the power button and the 3.5mm audio port to connect to your headphones or earphones. HP is also selling the Beats Solo headphones for use with the TouchPad.

On the right of the display is the back button to bring you back to the main home screen, while the right edge holds the microUSB connector. The TouchPad also features HP Synergy that lets you sync your contacts, emails, messages, photos automatically from up to 16 sources such as Facebook, Google, Yahoo!, Skype and Microsoft Exchange. The tablet is also capable of multi-task and you can easily close the application by flicking your finger at the application upward.

One interesting feature of the HP TouchPad is the built-in HP Touchstone technology for easy wireless charging. Simply place the tablet on the HP Touchstone dock (sold separately) and you can charge the tablet's battery even without removing the HP TouchPad case. Other accessories include the wireless keyboard and TouchPad Case.

According to HP, for the month of August, there will be a special promotion in conjunction with National Day – the TouchPad with 16GB will come with a HP TouchPad Case, while the 32GB will come with the TouchPad Case and Wireless Keyboard. Preorders will start on 27 July, while the HP TouchPad will be availabile in Singapore from 12 August.

The HP Touchstone Charging Dock will be selling at S$109.90; the HP TouchPad Wireless Keyboard – S$79.90; the HP TouchPad Case has a price tag of S$49.90; the TouchPad International power adapter is selling at S$39.90; and the Beats Solo headphones is retailing at S$420.
