HP Unveils New TouchSmart And Omni Desktop PCs


Today, HP introduced their new TouchSmart software that claims to provide an improved touch and computing experience for users. On top of that, the company has also announced new products including the redesigned TouchSmart PCs as well as Omni100 desktop PC.

Asia Pacific, 21 September 2010 – HP today unveiled the latest evolution of its touch experience. The redesigned HP TouchSmart310 desktop PC features a sleek, appealing new form and the most advanced version of HP‘s exclusive TouchSmart software to date. The end result is a more personal, intuitive and fun computing experience for consumers.

Create, communicate and personalize with just one touch
The latest version of HP‘s exclusive TouchSmart software transforms the desktop, enabling new ways to interact and connect with a PC.

The enhancements include:

New visuals: The new software creates multi-layered backgrounds, providing a higher degree of personalization and transforming the user‘s desktop with more space and perspective.
New means of access: The new HP TouchSmart 4.0 software enhances how people access entertainment and applications.

– Magic Canvas allows free-form desktop personalization, allowing multiple user to post lists, photos, playlists and videos, among others
– The new Carousel provides easy access and a quick launch of HP TouchSmart applications, web pages and RSS feeds

– A Magic Menu, which sits behind the Magic Canvas, takes only one tap to help users manage, applications, web pages, music and videos

The updated software makes it easier than ever to stay connected with friends and family through applications from Twitter and Facebook. A new built-for-Touch Facebook application lets users create a personalized video greeting and post it directly on a friend‘s Facebook Wall.

Additionally, HP today introduced the HP TouchSmart Apps Center. An icon on the TouchSmart Carousel, the HP TouchSmart Apps Center provides seamless one-touch access to downloadable applications from partners like Marvel Comics and the Cartoon Network. Applications include the following and more:

– Marvel Comics: Experience more than 8,000 of Marvel‘s greatest stories like never before – tap and swipe through the colorful stories of the most famous superheroes, including Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine and more

– Cartoon Network: Animate your TouchSmart with Cartoon Network. Explore your favorite heroes with the Cartoon Network Ben 10: Comic Book Reader. Or try out the Cartoon Network Get Updated! application to receive regular updates on your favorite Cartoon Network program and characters

– A variety of Touch-enabled games to entertain every member of the family
The new version of the TouchSmart software will be available on the HP TouchSmart310 desktop PC as well as the current TouchSmart600 desktop PC. The TouchSmart600 desktop PC is also available with BeatsTM Audio – a unique, high-performance technology that provides an optimal sound experience – the way the artist intended it.

The TouchSmart tm2 notebook PC will include updated TouchSmart Mobile 2.0 software. TouchSmart Mobile 2.0 offers users a similar interface to the TouchSmart desktop, allowing users to drag multimedia content to the desktop like a personal canvas and access applications through a carousel view. Featuring many of the same touch applications as the TouchSmart desktop PC, the tm2 also includes DigiFish Dolphin, a screensaver that recreates an interactive ocean environment.

The convertible tm2 features a capacitive multi-touch display 12.1-inch LED BrightView touchscreen display and provides a full notebook PC experience with Intel Core i3 and i5 processors and AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5450 switchable graphics.

TouchSmart310 desktop PC sits upon a pedestal base that tilts up to 30 degrees. Built-in wireless LAN, webcam, front-firing speakers and optional TV tuner provide a robust multimedia experience. Other features include AMD VISION processors with ATI Radeon graphics and up to two terabytes (TB) of storage.
